Spring‑into‑Summer Road‑Trip Checklist

Warmer days are here, and July highs in the KC metro routinely hover around 88‑89 °F with a humidity that isn’t shy. Heat, pop‑up thunderstorms, and a long drive, such as the I‑70 stretch towards Denver, all conspire to punish an unprepared car.
Before you load the cooler, run through this nine‑point inspection list — most of it can be handled in one stop at your dealership’s service lane.

9‑Point Inspection Checklist

What to CheckWhy it MattersPro Tip
1Battery healthExtreme heat evaporates internal fluid, making summer the #1 season for battery failures (yes, more than winter).Ask for a free battery test during your visit; replace anything older than 3 years.
2Engine oil & coolantHeavy loads and steep Ozark grades raise engine temps. Fresh oil and the correct 50/50 antifreeze mix keep it cool.If you’re within 1,000 miles of an oil-change interval, change it now — Nissan Express Service includes new oil and a multi‑point inspection at no extra charge.
3Tire pressure & treadPressure fluctuates ~1 psi for every 10 °F of temperature swing; under- or over-inflation can hurt both your MPG and tire grip.Check cold pressures the morning you leave; tread depth should be ≥ 4/32″ for wet-road braking.
4BrakesStop‑and‑go on I‑435 plus Ozark descents chew through brake pads faster than winter commuting.A complimentary multi-point inspection will measure pad thickness and rotor wear.
5A/C performance & cabin air filterAn overworked compressor or clogged air filter can diminish cooling power. If the air smells musty or airflow is weak, swap the filter and have pressures checked.
6Wiper blades & washer fluidSpring storms, bugs, and prairie dust cut visibility, especially around burn season.Replace blades yearly, and make sure to top up with windshield fluid for summer highway splatter.
7Exterior lightsLonger daylight means we notice burned-out bulbs less until a late-night drive.Have techs do a 360° lamp check while the car is on the lift.
8Tech & navigationOut-of-date maps or software can disable driver-assist features on newer Rogues and Pathfinders.Verify ProPILOT Assist cameras are clean and that your infotainment software is current.
9Road-side kit refreshTornado watches, flash-flood detours, or just 100 miles of open Flint Hills can delay help.Pack water, phone charger, first-aid kit, tire sealant, and an emergency blanket — even in the summer.
